Usher in the new presidency with a great new Showtime show, 'United States of Tara'. Toni Collette displays her excellent range, that was previously showcased in 'The Sixth Sense', 'Little Miss Sunshine', and 'In Her Shoes', to name a few. 'Juno' screenwriter Diablo Cody also has a hand in Executive Producing 'United States of Tara'.
The show is based on the multiple personality disorder of Collette, which she masterfully plays, and the effect it has on her husband and two kids. Each 'alter' as the show refers to each of Collette's personalities, are vastly different. The premiere episode included 'T', a promiscuous and flirtatious 'teenager', and 'Buck', a true, backwoods, good ol' boy, all inhabiting Collette's body. She has one simple rule for her husband, played by John Corbett. Don't sleep with any of the other 'alters'. While the vessel is Collette's Tara, whomever is possessing it at the time is a different story.
The premise for this show is quite clever, leaving large potential and possibility for future episodes, and even more longevity in upcoming seasons. Check out 'United States of Tara' on Showtime, Sundays at 10pm Eastern and Pacific.
