ToD

I'm not really sure what's left to be said about And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead's most recent efforts. I guess one can't expect a band to continue to make the same sounding records for years, like a Fat Records artist. But I would appreciate some semblance of what made me appreciate this band around the era of their self-titled record. Check out two of the more listenable tracks off of 'Century of Self', which you can preorder through Insound, here.

Is Canada the new flannel?

What is it about Canadian bands? Is there something in the water? Must be all the free health care. The Rest hail from Hamilton, Ontario. Their sound is quite exquisite, and really something to be marveled at. Canadian musician generalization #2: Are there any brooding kids in Canada that sit alone in their rooms and have a hard time making friends or finding fellow musicians? Are there dumb posts in the Recycler in Canada that have to explain that their influences are "Later Beatles and 'Loveless' My Bloody Valentine"? Every great Canadian band seems to have numerous band members! Check out two tracks from a wonderful band called The Rest.

Grey Machine

I must admit, I can get into, whatsoever, any of Rob Crow's side projects...especially the wizardry of Goblin Cock. Makes me go back to old Pinback. Check out the epic 'Grey Machine' below.

Set to be released on February 24th, '200 Million Thousand' is the latest album from Atlanta's The Black Lips. Check out what I already consider to be my favorite song in The Black Lips catalog, just in time for you making makeout tapes for this Valentine's weekend, as well as an additional track from the forthcoming record.
