For your 3-Day

Here's a couple of covers for our three day. First up, is David Pajo, formerly known as Papa M. Here's a track from an all acoustic Misfits cover album titled "Scream With Me". It can be purchased on vinyl HERE.

And here's one of my favorite examples of cover, from a few years back, during a KEXP session. It's Rogue Wave covering Nirvana's "On a Plain". They follow what I think should be the model for covering well known tracks, which is taking it and making it your own. No kudos though, to Rogue Wave's cover of "Maps" by The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. They just missed the mark on that one.

I drew a blank then put it into a frame.

Here's a B side from Modest Mouse's forthcoming 7" with the A side being "Satellite Sun". The seven inch vinyl will be limited to 4000 copies, but will be available for digital download on iTunes. Check out "Guilty Cocker Spaniels" below. It definitely feels closer to our MM of yesteryear, than the last couple of releases left us with. Either way, it's quite nice to hear something new from Isaac and the boys. Is it just me, or does Johnny Marr look like one of your cool but creepy uncles who hangs out with you when you guys go out, and then nails one of your hot friends? Hypothetically speaking of course.

AC

(Animal Collective live at The Bowery Ballroom. Photo by Ryan Muir)

About five years ago, I saw Animal Collective open for Black Dice at The Knitting Factory. Most people came to see Animal Collective, and by the time Black Dice had started their ridiculously loud sonic assault, there were ashamedly the same amount of people at the venue to see a ridiculous local act, such as one HERE for example. After seeing Animal Collective, never in a hundred years would I have imagined their success today. Interestingly following their widely heralded "Merriweather Post Pavilion", a limited edition release of live songs titled "Animal Crack Box" has been abuzz in a 3xLP format. You can see Pitchfork's review HERE. Check out an older track from "Sung Tongs" and one from "Animal Crack Box" below.
