Martsch & Co.

Here's a song off the forthcoming Built To Spill record, their seventh, called "There Is No Enemy". The first go around for me has seemingly brighter and happier pop sounds than the last few efforts. We truly hope Doug Martsch & company continue to put out records for many years to come, a la Neil Young. Just can't seem to tire of listening to each one. Check out "Aisle 13" below. You can listen to a stream of the entire record, and judge for yourself at MySpace HERE.

The Sounds of MBAR

Here's the opening track from Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson's forthcoming record, titled "Summer of Fear". The album has a release date of October 20th, and you can pre-order the record HERE. The album was produced by TV On The Radio's Kyp Malone, and I must say their is an apparent influence and touch that can be heard on this record. Visit MBAR's MySpace page HERE. Give a listen to the Cat Stevens-esque pace of "Shake A Shot" below.

Lose Your Soul

Here's a track from Ryan Gosling and pal Zach Shields' project, Dead Man's Bones. This is not Dogstar or The Bacon Brothers, or any of the terrible incarnations that actors in the past have put forth. Recorded with the Silverlake Music of Conservatory Children's Choir, Dead Man's Bones will be releasing their self titled record on October 6th, courtesy of the wonderful ANTI records, who also just released Rain Machine's album. You can pre-order this hauntingly eclectic album HERE. Check out "Lose Your Soul" below.

Ketsana

Just wanted to take the opportunity to mention the ongoing devastation in The Philippines. As a native Filipino, the images have hit home for me. We've seen what can happen with an ill prepared government during Katrina. This is several times worse, with a third world population. The economic times in our own country are the hardest we've seen in many years. But if you're able to, I plead with you to make a donation through Ebay HERE. Even if it's just a dollar, or a few dollars. Feel free to leave a comment in the comments section after you have. We'd love to recognize your goodwill.

Much smaller in scope, please check out a few tracks below.

The Kids & O

Here's another track from the forthcoming "Where The Wild Things Are" motion picture soundtrack, courtesy of Karen O & The Kids. The film is set to open in a few weeks, on October 16th. Visit the movie's official site HERE. Check out "Worried Shoes" below, which we hear is a Daniel Johnston cover. Assumption that Spike Jonze & Karen O's breakup remains amicable, is further fueled by the full soundtrack, which is available for order and release tomorrow. More info at Amazon HERE.

On a side note, I'm incredibly excited to see this movie. My ADHD addled childhood prevented me from actually reading this book. Also, I'm that guy with lots of books on his bookcase, that was mostly an illusion used to impress women when I was younger, and to make them think I read a lot of books. It also took me many years to actually finish "On The Road"...probably as long as it took Jack K. to actually write it.
